Days in Deutschland

-------My travels in Germany

Liutong  Computer School  Xidian University

After a long flight about 12 hours,I arrived at the airport of Frankfurt. An elderly German person named Bernd picked us up.On the way to Academy Biggesee,he simply introduced us the city of Frankfurt. In a lot of Chinese people’s eyes,Frankfurt is a very large city. However, that’s not true.Frankfurt is a small city with a population of only hundreds of thousands. But there is an interest thing that Frankfurt has the second biggest airport in Europe.(The biggest one is in London.)To find the reason we should go to the age of the cold war.Because of the division of Germany and the confrontation between the US.and the Soviet Union, the airport of Frankfurt was expanded by the US for sending troops when war breaking out.It seems like politics affects a lot to our daily life. There is no speed limit on highway in Germany, which may be impossible in China. But on the highway I saw no traffic rule breaking. All the cars were traveling methodically.Through the window of our bus,I saw the high TV tower of Frankfurt and clean pure water in Lake Biggesee.Traffic signs with German words on them reminded me that I was in a unfamiliar but desirable country.

When arriving at the Academy Biggesee,I was attracted by the building of the academy which has black roof and wall and wide bright windows. There was a large piece of farmland behind the academy with some cow eating grass on it.Blowing wind with smell of soil and leaves made me forget the exhaustion of the fourney and lost myself into the beautiful scenery.

It was in the early morning when we arrived at the academy. So we had the first breakfast in this country, which impressed me a lot. After the breakfast,we took a short break. At noon,we met our German friend. They were from one same college of art.In the later days we built a deep friendship that will last forever.

In the afternoon, the exchange programm got started. In first activity, each Chinese student found a German student as a partner and took a short interview to each other then wrote down hobbies and other things about us.Later on,each two-students group gave a report, every student got introduced in front of all German and Chinese people.During the report,we find a lot of things that both German and Chinese students like such as Cartoons form Japan and paintings of Van Gogh.It looked like that there was no bounds in cultrue and art.

In the second day of our exchanging programm, students from each country were divided into 3 groups, each small group should introduce thire own country to all, includeing advantages and disadvantages. We introduced the two countries to each other. We initially got known about the situation of Germany.Scenery in Germany is beautiful,It has astrong industry, numerous famous brand and outstanding enterprise are from Germany. What’s more,German people could receive education fully free of charge, which is very hard goal to achieve in China. At the same time, all three German groups put the gap between the poor and the rich into their list of disadvantages.

In the last few days of the exchanging programm,we were wanted to make a city of future in our mind.We built a lot of beautiful constructions and rules full of imagination, which impressed me very much.

Good time is always short. After a 7 days’ long exchanging,it was the time to say goodbye, thinking of the good time that we hung out together, there will always be a happy  smile on my face.We looked forward to seeing those guys again in the next year.

After the exchanging programm,we spent 3 more days traveling some cities around the country, Dortmund, Munster and Koln. There were an old castle that impressed me most.I saw amour and weapons in it,even a knight charging to the enermy with his lance and honour.

Talking with Mr.Ma and Bernd made me get a new level of cognition about western world. Recently, the EU are facing the debt crisis. One of the reasons is their high level of welfare. In old age, western countries has lots of colonies, which could give support to their own people,But as time passed and the integration of world economy, most of their colonies got independent. So in this condition, the European countries couldn’t afford the welfare of their people by their own.So they borrow money from other countries. Finally they got a sovereign debt crisis.

In China, housing is another social problem, welfare of Chinese people is not as good as western developed countries.Chinese people could not depend on their government but themselves to get somewhere to live.So the need of apartments can not cool down.High price of a living place becomes a burden of Chinese people.Jokingly I told my German friends that in China,if a guy does not own a apartment,it’s hard for him to have a girlfriend or get married. They thought it was unbelievable. But in China,it’s kind of true.Once a Chinese girl in the exchanging group was asked that would her marry a guy who has no apartments of his own.And she said yes only if the guy was intelligent and diligent.I thought it was ok before Mr.Ma said ”Is it not because of love but intelligence or diligence that you marry a guy?”Since then I was lost in thought, the answer was not wrong, but it reflected the current situation of China. The pure emotion of Chinese people is drowned in the flood of material things. There are lots of problems to be solved and a long way to go for China.

I benefited a lot from the exchanging programm.I made a lot of new friends from both Germany and China, and had some more opinion about the society and culture. It will be the most valuable in my whole lifetime. Many thanks again to the persons who were supportive to this programm,Mr.Ma,Bernd, and Udo the headmaster of Academy Biggesee!

(Dis-)Advantages, what's important in life和构建未来城市;晚上是自由活动。

Here comes New Year! Let's make a New Year Wish— Turn back time to 12.11th, when our story began.

12hrs flight wasn't pleasant at all. But the joy turned the mood upside down as soon as we finally landed in Frankfurt Airport. As a German major, I felt like home already. The language sounded even better there. China-expert Mr. Bernd was already there waiting for us.

After two hours' driving, we arrived in Akademie Biggesee, which is located in some quiet town. The architecture is historical, gorgeous and typical german. At that time, it was two weeks ahead of Christmas, so every detail revealed certain amount of X-mas atmosphere.

The first meal, as well as many afterwards, was sooo yummy~ Then we got some rest until we saw the german students. In the simple opening address, we grasped a general impression of what we were gonna do in the following days.

All the tasks required group work. I had a great time in both Chinese and mixed groups. This was a practice of teamwork, through which every member got involved and contributed in some degree. We were faced up with problems, put them to discussions, reached to an agreement and then presented to others. It was about ideas being accomplished.

Inspired by each other, we seemed to understand a bit more about others as well as ourselves. There's more in the language than language itself. People cherish their own  culture and embrace another with less prejudice. Stereotypes could be inaccurate sometimes. Raised in different customs or families, we actually share more similarities than we thought.

Farewell is never easy. It seemed impossible to hold up tears. The longest goodbye ever! From that moment on, we started to count down days until the big gathering in April.

This is not the end of the story, not even a pause. Life moves on, but the friendship lasts long.
